Browse with tranquillity Remove music from videos as you watch, on your device

Sakinah is a calm tool that respects your choices about what you hear and what you see. Today it removes musical instruments from everyday content as it plays: lectures and talks, Reels and Shorts, kids’ videos and the news. Speech stays clear. Free from A to Z, with no account.

How it works

Three steps. Nothing technical.

  1. 1

    Install Sakinah

A Chrome or Firefox extension, the Android app or the Linux app.
  2. 2

    Turn on “Remove music”

One switch. No account, and no settings to learn.
  3. 3

    Keep watching

The music fades out and speech stays clear, on YouTube, Reels, Shorts and more.

What stays, what goes?

A calm gold sound wave stays clear while the noise around it fades away

Stays

  • Speech and dialogue
  • Quran recitation
  • Nasheeds
  • The adhan
  • Everyday sounds: street, crowds, nature

Goes

  • Musical instruments
  • Background music under speech
  • Musical intros and jingles

Sakinah is made for everyday content: lectures, short videos, kids’ content and the news, not for listening to songs.

Two modes, your choice

Remove music

Default
Musical instruments are removed; speech, recitation, the adhan and the everyday sounds around them stay.

Voice only

Sound effects and background sounds go too, leaving just the speaker’s voice. Handy for lectures and talks.

Where does Sakinah work?

On your phone and your computer — where you actually watch.

A laptop, a phone and a tablet, each showing a calm sound wave

Browser extension

Chrome and Firefox: YouTube, Shorts and Instagram Reels; you can add other sites.

Android app

Phone-wide: works with apps that allow audio capture (e.g. YouTube). We will publish the list of tested apps.

What you watch stays with you

Sakinah runs entirely on your device. We don’t need to know what you watch.

  • No account needed
  • No audio or video is recorded or sent anywhere
  • The cleaned sound can’t be recorded or exported
  • No ads, no tracking
  • Works offline once installed

Who is Sakinah for?

Anyone who avoids music

Watch everyday video without the music, while Quran recitation, nasheeds and the adhan stay.

Students and lecture listeners

Lectures and talks without a distracting music bed.

How is Sakinah different?

We compare kinds of tools, not specific products: cloud players that prepare a video before you watch it, filters designed for speech, and audio file-processing apps. “Partly” means it varies between tools or we could not verify it.

For organisations

We are preparing a licensed kit that adds “Remove music” to kids’ apps, Quran and lecture platforms, and e-learning. It all runs on the user’s device; no audio is uploaded.

Licensing to organisations helps keep Sakinah free for everyone.
